Home Care Can Help Medicaid Cut Costs

Home care providers' Medicaid business is looking grim, thanks to states' efforts to cut their budgets. But states should consider increasing their home care use in these hard times to cut costs, industry advocates urge. For example, New York can save Medicaid dollars "by further drawing upon the inherent cost-efficiency of [the] home care system, which allows patients to avoid higher-cost services, remain in their homes, and get the vital care management services they need," the Home Care Association of New York State says in a release.
