Medicaid rates aren’t keeping pace, chain indicates. Access issues aren’t restricted to Medicare home health, as a recent example shows. Chicago-based personal care services chain Help at Home plans to cease operations in the state of Alabama on Sept. 30, news outlets report. The move will eliminate 785 jobs by Nov. 4, the company says in a filing with the state.
“The current reimbursement and regulatory environment for Medicaid-funded home care has made it difficult to recruit, hire and retain workforce and we have not been able to overcome these challenges in the state of Alabama,” a company spokesperson told AL.com. Alabama hasn’t expanded its Medicaid program as allowed in the Affordable Care Act.
