Changes for HIPAA enforcement may be ahead. The HHS Office for Civil Rights finally has a new leader appointed by the Biden administration. Lisa J. Pino is the new OCR Director. Previously, Pino worked as a Department of Homeland Security senior executive, SDA Deputy Administrator of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and USDA Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights in the Obama administration. She was most recently in charge of “New York’s operational response to COVID-19” as the New York State Department of Health’s Executive Deputy Commissioner, a Health and Human Services release indicates.
