HHA Pays OIG High 5 Figures For Employing Excluded Aide
A routine search of Medicare’s excluded individuals could potentially save you tens of thousands of dollars. That’s the lesson learned by Professional Home Health Care 2 Inc. in Dayton, Ohio. The agency agreed to pay more than $77,000 to resolve allegations “that Professional 2 employed an individual who was excluded from participating in any Federal health care program,” the HHS Office of Inspector General notes in its Civil Money Penalties listings. “OIG’s investigation revealed that the excluded individual, a home health aide, provided items or services that were billed to Federal health care programs,” the watchdog agency adds.
