A Michigan home health agency has agreed to pay a $57,000 fraud settlement. Ad-vanced Professional Home Health Care, based in Troy, will settle the charges that it altered physician signature dates and other information on certain physician orders for home care services, the De-partment of Justice says in a release.
Advanced Professional also has agreed to implement and maintain a compliance program for at least two years. Under the compliance program, the agency must provide training to its staff regarding medical records and documentation requirements, including those relating to signature and retention requirements for home care orders, the DOJ says. In addition, the company is required to hire an independent firm to perform unscheduled and unannounced reviews for each of the next two years to evaluate the company’s physician orders and related claims.
