HHA Owner Indicted For Kickbacks

A Texas RN and former home health agency owner is facing charges that she received kickbacks disguised as employee salaries from a local pharmacy and in turn, paid a physician and employees of his medical clinic for home health referrals.

Nora Alaniz received over $70,000 in kickbacks in the scheme involving her Hidalgo County agency, the Department of Justice alleges in a release. Alaniz was added to an indictment that included the physician, Tajul Shams Chowdhury, and targeted fraud related to kickbacks for compound drug prescriptions at the pharmacy, the DOJ explains. Four other defendants have pleaded guilty to charges in the original indictment.
