Watch out for a few claims glitches that could be slowing your cash flow.
Glitch #1: “Certain Home Health claims for episodes beginning October 1, 2013 and after, which are subject to the payment shift between the Part A and Part B trust funds, have not been paid correctly,” CMS says on its website. “No payment is going to the provider and the entire payment is being reported under Value Code 17.”
An August system correction was unsuccessful, so an additional correction was made on Dec. 8, CMS notes. “Affected claims will be adjusted by April 1, 2015. No provider action is needed.”
Glitch #2: HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS reports “an issue where the HIPPS code on some home health claims is recoding incorrectly,” it said in a recent email to providers. “We are researching this issue and additional information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.”
