HH Fraud Convict Set To Cool Heels In Prison For Well Over A Decade

A Houston home health agency owner has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison after being convicted of Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

In addition to the prison term and three years' supervised release, Audu Ozigi was ordered to pay over $11 million in restitution to government healthcare programs, the Texas Attorney General says in a release.

Ozigi operated HHAs owned by co-conspirator Margaret Arise. They and others falsified patient files, paid marketers, and offered kickbacks to referring physicians for signing unnecessary home health orders. They also systematically submitted claims to government healthcare programs for services that were not provided, not medically required, or both, the AG says.
