Jennie Stuart Health is the latest health system to close its home health agency’s doors. “Due to a number of industry-related and economic factors, significantly including a nationwide nursing shortage and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jennie Stuart Health’s Home Health service line operations are being suspended, effective Aug. 31, 2022,” the system says on its Facebook page. The agency began operating in 1989.
It may not be gone for good, however. “Our goal is to re-introduce Home Health to Western Kentucky in 2023,” Jennie Stuart Health says. “We will spend the next several months analyzing contemporary Home Health service line structures and practices, and evaluating the operational needs and requirements of a reinvigorated Home Health Agency that can thrive within the modern demands of our patient population and the healthcare industry.”
