Get To Know New Doc Field In FISS Screen

Get to know a new field in your FISS screen. As of April, "FISS Claim Page 03 was revised to include a two position field, 'SC' that identifies the specialty code for the attending, operating, and/or the other physician" based on the NPI, RHHI Cahaba GBA says on its website. If the physician NPI on your claim isn't in PECOS, the system will put a "99" in the "SC" field, Cahaba explains. If the doc's name doesn't match the NPI, the "SC" field will be left blank. If the physician is in PECOS and her name matches the NPI, her specialty code will be placed in the field.
