Industry Notes:

Gentiva Sees More Bids

The bidding war for Gentiva continues. After long-term care giant Kindred Healthcare upped its offer to $16 per share, Atlanta-based Gen-tiva Healthcare Services Inc. announced a $17.25 per share offer from an unnamed “recognized ow-ner, operator and investor in the sector.” The mystery suitor is Formation Capital LLC, a closely held private equity firm that specializes in senior housing, according to press reports.

Gentiva’s Board recommended rejecting Kindred’s $16 offer, and Louisville-based Kindred has countered with a $17.25 match offer that requires due diligence. Kindred started out offering $14.50 per share.
