Furnishing Patient Care In The Home Saves Medicare Program Money, Demo Shows

An Affordable Care Act demonstration encouraging care at home is doing well. The Independence at Home Demonstration showed both higher quality care and lower Medicare expenditures, CMS says in a release.

The demo, which provides primary care services in the home, “saved over $25 million in the demonstration’s first performance year — an average of $3,070 per participating beneficiary — while delivering high quality patient care in the home,” CMS crows.
