For-Profit Hospices Targeted Again

Mainstream media outlets aren’t done smearing the hospice industry. Slate.com’s daily What Next podcast took on the issue of for-profit hospices, based on the high-profile ProPublica article, in its Jan. 17 episode. “End-of-life care is full of people looking for a big return on little effort,” says the episode description. “Beneath the pamphlets of patients living out their days in comfort lies an uglier reality: a cottage industry that frequently misappropriates taxpayer dollars in the name of profit.” The podcast episode is online at https://slate.com/podcasts/what-next/2023/01/how-hospice-care-became-a-scammers-dream.
