For once, home health agencies are catching a break on a claims payment error. Back in May, Medicare contractors announced that the new HH PPS pricer was paying HHAs incorrectly for nonroutine supplies. The pricer was paying all NRS portions of HHA payments with the 3 percent rural add-on, instead of just those claims with rural CBSA codes. The new pricer has fixed that problem, and CMS isn't requiring recoupment of the extra reimbursement due to the glitch. "Because the overpayment amounts were small ... [CMS] is not requiring the overpayments to be corrected," RHHI Cahaba GBA says. "Cahaba will not initiate adjustments to the home health billing transactions which paid incorrectly due to this issue."
