Home health and hospice providers hoping to participate in Medicare’s new payment model for dementia patients should heed an important deadline on Sept. 15. Reminder: On July 31, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced the new voluntary nationwide pilot, the Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model. It “aims to support people living with dementia and their unpaid caregivers,” CMS notes on its GUIDE webpage. “CMS is accepting letters of interest for the GUIDE Model through September 15, 2023,” the agency says. And it “will release a GUIDE Request for Applications (RFA) for the model in Fall 2023.” Expect the program to launch on July 1, 2024, and run for eight years, CMS says.
