A spin-off or sale of Encompass Health Corp.’s home health and hospice business is looking ever-more sure. “Our Board of Directors believes a full or partial separation of the home health and hospice business will enhance the long -term success and value of the business,” Encompass CEO Mark Tarr said in the Birmingham, Alabama-based chain’s Quarter 2 earnings call on July 28. “The final form is still to be determined as we continue to pursue a separation transaction by either public or private means.” Encompass “expects to announce a transaction in the second half of 2021,” the chain’s earnings release says. Encompass, formerly known as HealthSouth, operates 249 home health locations and 94 hospice locations in 42 states and Puerto Rico, it says.
