Durable medical equipment suppliers see lots of payment changes in the latest physician payment rule from CMS. Bidding: The rule proposes the 21 new areas to which competitive bidding will spread, as well as a new bidding program for mail order diabetic supplies, notes Invacare Corp. in its analysis of the regulation. Also included are provisions about bid contract termination appeals and oxygen and capped rental payment rules in the program. The rule also addresses oxygen provision under the 36-month cap and elimination of the firstmonth purchase option for standard power wheelchairs, Invacare notes.
