Don't Count On Cost Report Deadlines Moving Again

Medicare seems to be holding firm to its cost report filing deadline for year-end fiscal year providers. Through its Medicare Administrative Contractors, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services first pushed the deadline from May 31 to July 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then CMS and the MACs announced a further delay to Aug. 31 (see Eli’s HCW, Vol. XXIX, No. 29). HHH MAC Palmetto GBA “sent cost report reminder letters to providers with a due date of August 31, 2020, during the week of July 20, 2020,” the MAC points out in a post restating the deadlines, updated Aug. 25.
