Doc Fix Threatens Home Care Reimbursement

Watch out for possible rate cuts coming down the legislative pike this session. Physicians are advocating for their latest "doc fix" legislation that will avoid steep Medicare payment cuts set to hit them in 2012. The American Medical Association is lobbying for a five-year fix, according to press reports. But a shorter fix is more likely. Even a one- or two-year fix could be a threat to home care and hospice reimbursement rates under Medicare, as lawmakers search for funding sources for the physician increase, experts warn.
