Cutting Kickback Checks Lands Woman With 7-Year Exclusion

Kickbacks have led to a seven-year exclusion for one California resident.

Patricia Perez in Los Angeles has agreed to the exclusion from all federal healthcare programs for “improper remuneration,” the HHS Office of Inspector General indicates on its civil money penalties webpage. “OIG’s investigation revealed that Perez paid remuneration to individuals in the form of checks in violation of the Anti-Kickback Statute,” the watchdog agency says.
