Consult New Guidance, Education Session For VBID Hospice Carve-In That Hits In Less Than 2 Months

As the Value-Based Insurance Design model testing hospice’s inclusion in Medicare Advantage plans gets closer, activity is accelerating.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued its VBID Model: Hospice Benefit Component 2021 Technical and Operational Guidance at https://innovation.cms.gov/media/document/vbid-hospice-technical-guidance-cy2021.

Do this: If you operate in one of the participating Medicare Advantage Organization’s areas, “regardless of whether you are part of the MAO’s contracted network, it is important that you become familiar with the workings of the model to ensure that you follow the proper procedures for billing hospice services” for participating patients, the National Association for Home Care & Hospice emphasizes in its member newsletter. That includes reading the new guidance.

And this: You can find out more about the program and ask questions of CMS in a Nov. 10 session, VBID Hospice Benefit Component Technical Support Series: Session Two. Register at https://innovation.cms.gov/vbid-hospice-tech-series-session2.
