Check This New Site For ALJ Appeal Status
If you feel like your ALJ appeal gets sucked into a black hole once you file it, you now have a tool to track it.
You can log into the new ALJ Appeal Status Information System (AASIS) with your appeal number, the Office of Medicare Hearings and Ap-peals says at www.hhs.gov/omha/Appeal_Status_Lookup/index.html.
Window: “Your appeal will not appear in the AASIS system until it has been entered into OMHA’s case tracking system,” the site says. “Due to the volume of appeals OMHA is currently receiving, you should not expect to see your appeal for 16 weeks after you mailed it to OMHA.” On the other end, “appeals that were decided or otherwise closed more than 180 days ago will not appear in the system,” OMHA says
