Help your assessment staff sharpen their skills with the Brief Interview for Mental Status that Medicare began requiring with OASIS this year.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ video tutorial aims “to assist providers with guidance application and interview strategies for the [BIMS] cognitive assessment,” CMS says in a message to providers. The 20-minute tutorial “is designed to provide targeted guidance for accurate coding using live-action patient/resident scenarios,” the agency says.
