Bidding Recompete May Affect Your Patients'DME

Your home care patients may have to start getting supplies from a different DME pro-vider — but not for a while.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced its plans to recompete the supplier contracts awarded in Round 2 of the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program. “CMS is required by law to recompete contracts under the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program at least once every three years,” the agency notes.

Bidding will commence next winter, CMS says in a release. “The Round 2 contract period for all product categories expires on June 30, 2016.”
