Beware Kickbacks From Software Co

If you feel like you’ve been doing a good job fending off any illegal kickbacks, you may want to think again — and look at an under-the-radar source of such prohibited payments. Case in point: Miami-based electronic health records designer CareCloud Health Inc. f/k/a CareCloud Corp. settled False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute allegations with the OIG in April to the tune of $3.8 million, indicates a Department of Justice release. “Product functionality, reliability, and safety should drive a medical software company’s success, not illegal kickbacks paid to promote its products,” warns Juan Antonio Gonzalez, Acting U.S. attorney, in the release.
