Anticipate Quarterly Update Hold
It’s not some new reimbursement catastrophe if your claims don’t process at the beginning of next month — it’s just the usual hold for quarterly updates. “Each quarter, the Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) is updated to include new logic for claims processing, pricing, etc.,” notes HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA on its website. “When the release is installed, Palmetto GBA places a temporary ‘hold’ to ensure the release is installed properly. During this time, claims with dates of service of October 1, 2020, or later will be held … and may be released before or on October 14, 2020, to continue processing.” How to know: Reason codes 36452, 37230, and WW999 will indicate the hold, Palmetto reviews.
