Another COVID-19 PHE Renewal Is Under Providers' Belts

The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency is not ending any time soon, and the latest PHE declaration is proof. Effective Oct. 18, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra renewed the COVID-19 PHE for the seventh time. Former HHS Secretary Alex Azar previously renewed the PHE declaration on April 21, 2020, July 23, 2020, Oct. 2, 2020, and Becerra subsequently issued renewals on Jan. 7, April 15, and July 19 of this year, Biden administration officials have previously indicated the PHE would run through at least the end of 2021.
