Keep an eye on Amazon Care, the online retail behemoth’s telemedicine business unit. It’s expanding to 21 more states, news reports note. Amazon Care provides telemedicine visits “24/7, no more waiting rooms, no more travel time,” it says on its webpage. It also provides in-person care “at your door” when needed, it adds. The in-person service is currently available in the Seattle area to Amazon employees.
Amazon Care has recently incorporated in Alaska, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming, according to records filed with state agencies, reports the Seattle Times. Stay tuned for how it will roll out and whether it will overlap with traditional home health and hospice services.
