If you’ve had to pay higher wages to attract aides, you are not alone. A new study found that the average hourly rate for a home health aide in 2020 increased 3.9 percent compared to 2019. The 2020 rate was $25.62, says long-term care insurance software vendor LTCG.
“Meanwhile, the average per-visit rate for a registered nurse in 2020 was $146.86, an increase of 6.3 percent over the prior year, potentially reflecting increased demand for nurses during the pandemic,” the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company says in a release about its Cost of Care study that “gathers tens of thousands of data points from senior care providers nationwide.” Minnesota and Washington were the most expensive states for home health aides, according to the study, while Georgia and Florida were the least expensive.
