Congress may circle back to furnish providers with one major provision that got left out of the America Rescue Plan Act. At press time, a bill introduced on March 13 was working its way through the House. H.R. 1868 would extend suspension of the 2 percent sequestration for Medicare rates until Dec. 31, 2021. “That bill would also avoid a 4 percent Medicare rate cut that is triggered by the recently passed COVID stimulus legislation,” the National Association for Home Care & Hospice says. In the Senate, a similar bill, S. 748, was introduced on March 15. Without passage and enactment of this legislation, “rates of payments will go down 2 percent beginning April 1,” NAHC stresses.
