Don’t overlook a change to the Medicare enrollment form. On top of numerous revisions to the enrollment process contained in the recent physician fee schedule final rule (see story, p. 332), there’s a new CMS-855A to reckon with. That’s thanks to the recent Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services final rule aiming to increase transparency of nursing home ownership. The new form approved by the Office of Management and Budget expires in September 2026, it says at www.cms.gov/medicare/cms-forms/cms-forms/downloads/cms855a.pdf. “The revised form is being accepted starting on Nov. 17, 2023,” notes accounting and advisory firm The Health Group in Morgantown, W. Va. “However, the prior version is still being accepted through Dec. 17, 2023,” The Health Group says in its electronic newsletter. Eyes ahead: “Additional modifications to Form CMS-855A are anticipated because of numerous integrity measures finalized by CMS,” The Health Group adds.
