A federal watchdog agency is on the prowl for more whistleblowers. “Whistleblowers are integral to rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse to safeguard public health and safety,” the HHS Office of Inspector General says in a May 30 tweet. “Federal laws encourage employees … to disclose wrongdoing and provide protection from retaliation,” the OIG highlights.
“The Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 … protect[s] whistleblowers who report specific wrongdoing,” the OIG says on its whistleblower protection webpage at https://oig.hhs. gov/fraud/report-fraud/whistleblower.
