Consult Newly Updated Guidance On Billing For Hospice Docs, NPPs
The MACs are offering a helping hand when it comes to billing hospice physician, nurse practitioner and physician assistant services that are related to the patient’s terminal diagnosis. Palmetto GBA, CGS, and National Government Services have collaborated on a job aid for the task, which they updated last month. Tip: “Patient care provided by a physician/NP/PA who is not employed by, under contract with or a volunteer of the hospice, and is not the attending physician, is not covered under the Hospice benefit and cannot be billed to the HHH MAC,” the aid details.
