• Medicare fraud isn't the only target for enforcement. The New York Medicaid Fraud Control Unit secured nearly $52 million in civil settlements and 25 criminal convictions in its crackdown on the home care industry last year, according to news reports. Overall the New York state Attorney General's office recovered more than $283 million with a record 148 Medicaid fraud convictions in 2009, AG Andrew Cuomo says in a report to the Department of Health and Human Services.
