Longstanding Hospice Claims Glitch Fixed

You can finally resume inputting the certifying hospice physician's NPI and name in the "OTH PHYS" field on the hospice Notice of Election. A claims system glitch had prevented hospices from accessing the field since spring. "This issue has been fixed," HHH MAC subcontractor National Government Services says in a Dec. 14 e-mail to providers. "Providers should discontinue the workaround." The workaround instructed hospices to leave the OTH PHYS field blank on NOEs. Remember: You were never supposed to leave the NOE field blank on hospice claims, only on NOEs, contractors remind hospices.
