Don’t let common G code confusion slow your cash flow.

The problem: HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS “has seen providers continuing to submit G-codes that are not valid for the dates of services being billed,” the MAC says. The MAC first reported the problem in February (see Eli’s HCW, Vol. XXVI, No. 9). Using the incorrect G code causes claims to Return to Provider.

The solution: “Please review the following list of valid and invalid codes with your billing staff to ensure the appropriate code is submitted,” CGS directs. “The validity of the HCPCS codes is based on the date services were provided.”
