Virginia may have ended its moratorium on new HHA licenses, but that doesn't mean new agencies are up and running yet. The state lifted its two-year moratorium on new home health licenses July 1, and 85 applicants filed their requests, reports the Washington Business Journal. Of the 85, only one -- Progressive Health Care Service of Newport News -- has a license in hand so far. The state expects to complete site visits for 29 applicants by the end of this month, a health department office of licensure and certification rep tells the newspaper. The state hopes to catch up on the backlog by next summer.
