Industry Note:

Wait A Bit Longer For Hospice Compare Update

New data refresh bumped to next month.

Hospices aren't the only ones having adjustment difficulties with Hospice Compare.

In the Nov. 15 Open Door Forum for home care and hospice providers, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services official announced that the "refresh" for the newly launched website, which was supposed to update data in November, has been pushed to "some time in December." CMS hasn't announced an exact date for the update yet.

However: The Nov. 15 "data freeze" and the preview report deadline for the February refresh are still on track, the CMS source said.

The delay is bad news for some hospices that had difficulty with the site's recent debut, such as one North Dakota hospice that got a basementlevel score on pain assessment due to a electronic medical records data collection error (see Eli's HCW, Vol. XXVI, No. 32).
