The deadline to use the new home health change of care notice (CCN) is right around the corner on Dec. 9. Don’t let it take you by surprise.
HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor CGS has developed a new CCN/ABN chart "to assist providers in determining which notice is appropriate to issue the beneficiary," the MAC says.
Tip: Unlike with an Advance Beneficiary Notice, home health agencies won’t issue CCNs before initiating care, explains the chart at www.cgs medicare.com/hhh/education/materials/pdf/ABN_
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services allowed HHAs to start using the CCN form back in September, but set the Dec. 9 deadline for switchover (see Eli’s HCW, Vol. XXII, No. 33).
