You may not have to spend too much time worrying about fitting into Accountable Care Organizations in the future — at least not in ACOs’ current form.
Since CMS began the Pioneer ACO program in 2011, it has lost 13 of its 32 participants, according to The Wall Street Journal. The 32 Pio-neer ACOs were supposed to serve as models for hundreds of other ACOs following them. But participants criticize the program’s stringent rules and benchmarks.
