A Texas couple is facing charges of Medicare fraud. Stella Maduka, director of nursing, and Felix Maduka, owner of Joystar Home Health Services in Richmond, Texas are accused of submitting Medicare home health claims for services that were never rendered and/or were medically unnecessary, according to a Department of Justice release.
Stella Maduka used a Texas-based billing service to bill Medicare for the services, the feds allege. Stella Maduka also created phony medical records to perpetrate the healthcare fraud.
In addition, the Madukas allegedly structured more than $100,000 in cash withdrawals from the bank accounts where they received Medicare payments to avoid detection by the federal government, the DOJ says.
