Home health agencies often feel like they get an unnecessary hassle from state and federal officials over regulatory requirements, but a new whistle-blower lawsuit is alleging just the opposite in Texas. Former Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services worker Jennifer Crampton’s suit claims that a DADS supervisor told her and other co-workers not to do proper background checks of HHAs or their workers, reports KXAN. Crampton says she was even made to falsify and backdate background checks and was told to not take steps to properly process the renewal applications sent in by agencies. Crampton says she was fired from DADS after complaining. DADS filed a response to the lawsuit, but it didn’t address any of the allegations, KXAN says. It only said the former employee cannot sue the state agency because it is immune from lawsuits.
