Industry Note:

Stay Tuned For Review Choice Demonstration Outcome

Pre-Claim Review closed doors in first round, trade group maintains.

Hopefully, Medicare officials will be in listening mode when it comes to the relaunched Pre-Claim Review/Review Choice Demonstration.

CMS’s notice announcing its plans to initiate a second, revised round of the reviled program drew 480 public comments before the comment period closed July 30. One of those letters came from the National Association for Home Care & Hospice.

Analysis from the first round of PCR in Illinois reveals that the number of HHAs in the state declined by 9 percent under the program, with up to $122 million in lost reimbursement and cash flow. “Smaller HHAs suffered more than larger ones,” NAHC notes.

Waiting game: Now HHAs wait for CMS’s response to the outcry from the industry. CMS has previously signaled it may launch RCD, once again in Illinois, by Oct. 1.
