A popular New Jersey program providing hidden cameras to observe home health aides could spread to other states. Under the program, which the state has decided to expand, authorities loan hidden cameras to family members of elderly and disabled patients who suspect their loved ones are being abused by caregivers. The program that began in December has produced a spike in misconduct complaints, reports NJ Advance Media. The “Safe Care Cam” program was limited to patients’ private homes at first, but now is in effect in nursing and other facilities, the news site says.
