Industry Note:

State Cracks Down On Private Duty Agencies

The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs fined 36 private duty home care agencies more than $242,000 for alleged violations of state regulations, reports The Press of Atlantic City newspaper. The largest fine was about $24,000.

New Jersey private duty agencies must register with the DCA. The state helps consumers find out if a company is registered, whether it has been subject to consumer complaints, and whether nurses at the companies are licensed in New Jersey.
