Industry Note:

State, County Shed Home Health Programs

Government-run HHAs continue to become more scarce.

Example: Six parties have submitted bids to purchase the Arkansas Department of Health’s in-home health care operations, according to press reports. The program offers hospice, home care, personal care and in-home health care services.

Another example: In Illinois, the Jo Da-viess County Home Health Care Program in Ga-lena has been shut down due to the county’s inability to compete with private companies, reports the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, Iowa. The agency tried to recruit new nurses, but couldn’t match compensation offered at privately owned companies, the newspaper says.
