As the Jan. 1 deadline for sequestration cuts approaches, the health care industry's heavy hitters are leaning on lawmakers to avoid the across-the-board 2 percent reductions to Medicare payment rates. "We need stability in the Medicare system as we work to promote high quality, high value, better coordinated patient care," says American Medical Association President Jeremy Lazarus in a letter to Congress. "The sequestration cut ... will hurt patient access to care."
