Senior Services Nonprofit Buys New Mexico HHA Chain

The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society based in Sioux Falls, S.D. has purchased Albuquerque, N.M.-based Heritage Healthcare Services Inc., through its affiliate, Good Samaritan Society HCBS-Heritage. Heritage has five locations in New Mexico and one in Phoenix, Ariz. They will retain their original names, the nonprofit senior services company says.

“More and more people are using homebased care and we’re taking decisive steps to be a national leader in providing these services,” Good Samaritan CEO David Horazdovsky says in a release. Heritage, founded in 1993, has about 2,000 employees and no layoffs are planned, reports the Albuquerque Journal newspaper.

“The acquisition of Heritage Healthcare Services by the Society is a big step forward in our plan to grow our home- and community-based services,” Kim Johansen, president of Good Samaritan Society HCBS-Heritage, says in the release.
