RAP Suppression Applies To CHOWs, CMS Confirms

Just who is going to be subject to RAP suppression under Medicare’s “enhanced oversight” of new home health agencies? Maybe more providers than you think. In addition to HHAs enrolling in Medicare for the first time, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will apply Request for Anticipated Payment suppression to agencies going through a Change of Ownership (CHOW), CMS has confirmed to the National Association for Home Care & Hospice. That goes even when the acquired agency will be keeping its CMS Certification Number (CCN), CMS tells the trade group, according to NAHC’s member newsletter.
