If the details of Medicare’s new Home Infusion Therapy benefit are still fuzzy, a recently updated educational tool from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services may help. An eight-page MLN Matters article reviews the new benefit and its requirements, including one of the points many infusion suppliers take issue with: “Qualified HIT suppliers can only bill and be paid for the HIT services furnished on the day on which a professional is physically present in the patient’s home and an infusion drug is being administered on such day.” See the article, updated Dec. 13, at www.cms.gov/files/document/se19029.pdf-0.
